Abstract: Our object of study is the conflict around the construction of Belo Monte Dam in Xingu River in the state of Pará. Planed to be the third biggest hydroeletricpower plant in the world in one of the most important Amazonian socioecological system, is a product of the governmental Plans to Accelerate Growth (PAC) witch at his turn integrates the Initiative for the Integration of Regional Latin-America Infrastructure. Our objective is to evaluate the development of the actual dam project compared to that other one from the 80’s, when it was first presented to the Brazilian society. The reason why we consider important to study the case is that it´s a huge project witch demands an investment of R$ 30 billion (financed in 80% by public, or, tax money) generating great social environment impacts. One of our hypothesis is that the project, elaborated in a military development agenda, is now inserted in a new context, but still a development one, but a neodevelopment context. Our second hypothesis is that, due to the period it was elaborated (military dictature) and the strong criticisms it received back in 1989, and still does in the present time, there would be some traces like lack of democracy in the way the government and his agencies conducted back then and are conducting now the environmental licensing of the dam. In a context where Brazilian sensibility to environmental problems is increased. The methodology of the study consisted in the research oh bibliographic studies, besides the classes followed in the Post-Graduation Department of Geography of the Pontíficia Universidade Católica de São Paulo

Abstract: This research aimed to understand the impacts of Programa São Paulo Faz Escola (Program São Paulo Makes School) has produced within the São Paulo’s public schools during 2008-2014 period. The Brazilian public school has adhered to the current reform fundaments which are notably related into some pedagogical competences. It is noticed, during its practice, the booklets sent to schools which were created to didactically guide the teacher, just ends removing teacher’s autonomy because they have too many detailed procedures.&#xD;
To understand these changes, the concepts of curriculum and educational reform, understood in its historical context, were used to guide the research. The research sources used were some Public School official documents located in São Paulo East Zone, during the period of 2008-2014, and 33% of São Paulo Public School geography teacher interviews. In addition to these sources it was also considered documents produced by the mentioned authors who study the subject. During the research process it was noticed the observation importance and school transformation process analysis which were happening. The reason which justifies this paper is the desire to contribute with information which may be significant for the next new generation formation. External evaluations, such as SARESP, indicate this program (Programa São Paulo Faz Escola) does not have contributed to achieving the objectives appointed by the government, yet

Abstract: This work aims to contribute to discussions about the present and the diversity of geopolitical approaches. We intend to identify and analyze the importance of geopolitics to the Geographic Science in the context of political and social changes occurring in the twenty-first century with the specific focus on Latin America. Through the theoretical study we will discuss the conceptual changes and the main references for the construction of Geopolitics and Political Geography for the geographical science. From there, we will discuss the contribution of concepts such as territory and politics within the geography and the validity of new social actors in building the Critical Geopolitics. The theoretical basis helped to read and understanding of geopolitics in Latin America, its territorial and political issues and its representation in the textbook of geography high school of the state of São Paulo
