Abstract: This study analyzes the perpetuation of belief in religious healing practices, even in the face of sociocultural transformations such as secularization and the advancement of biomedicine. The research is based on the case of the medium José Arigó, who, between 1950 and 1970, performed spiritual surgeries claiming to incorporate the spirit of the physician Adolf Fritz, using knives and pocketknives, without anesthesia or asepsis, with numerous reports of successful outcomes. Using a qualitative, bibliographic and documentary approach, primary sources and emic works were analysed, in addition to academic studies on the subject. The investigation was grounded in the sociology of knowledge and religion as a social construction - Berger and Luckmann, in the concept of anomalous experiences - Machado and Zangari, in symbolic efficacy, rituals, and performance - Lévi-Strauss, and in the subjective dimension of religious experience - William James. The aim was to understand how Arigó became a element of belief in extraordinary healing, his influence on the relationship between religion, health, and anomalous experience, and how his charisma and ritual practices contributed to the symbolic efficacy and social legitimation of his actions. The research also seeks to reflect on the psychosocial construction of belief, its meaning in spiritist contexts, and its impact on people’s lives

Abstract: This work aims to study "Myth and Symbol in the Christian Writings and Practices of the Early Church." First, it seeks to define what "Christianity" and "primitive" are, as well as the definition of "Judaism." It presents Second Temple "Judaism" and the history of this group until its extinction in 70 CE. This Judaism centered on the Temple and sacrificial worship, according to the so-called "Old Covenant," with the god "YHWH," also celebrated in the Old Testament. This religion was also the birthplace of the Jesus movement. The structuring of Christianity suggests, in its beginnings, the presence of "Christianities" due also to the presence of "Judaisms." Both religions had established themselves in various regions, absorbing some of the local culture. This leads to the establishment of a unique, autonomous identity, something the church has not achieved, precisely because it has its origins in the same religion and culture. One departure between the two was the emergence of two sacraments among Christians that differentiate them from any other religion of the period. These sacraments, Baptism and the Eucharist, are still practiced by churches today, which has led to a discussion about the legitimacy of a certain supersessionism, the pride in belonging to a religion superior to any other and therefore better

Abstract: This study aims to explore the Egungum cult and its autonomy within Brazil's socio-religious landscape. While Candomblé terreiros represent African-rooted traditions with a growing body of literature, our focus is specifically on the Egungum worship of the Yoruba tradition as practiced by the Omo Ilê Agboulá terreiro on Itaparica Island, Bahia. This terreiro has given rise to numerous affiliated houses across Brazil, historically maintained in secrecy due to the illegality and persecution associated with the cult. Our goal is to map the Agboulá-originated terreiros throughout Brazil, creating a cartography that highlights the cultural complexity and importance of the Egungum cult, as well as identifying communities that preserve these traditions to promote the value of Afro-Brazilian religious expression. This mapping effort seeks to revive and disseminate this culture by establishing a database with geographic and identifying information about these terreiros. Through data collection, we hope to provide an academic foundation to support public policies for communities facing racism and religious intolerance

Abstract: This study addresses the complex interaction between diversity and the implementation of Religious Education in São Paulo state public schools. The research analyzes the growing plurality of beliefs and values present in the São Paulo school environment, driven by historical factors and migratory flows, and the challenge this heterogeneity poses to offering neutral and inclusive Religious Education. The main objective is to critically analyze and discuss the neutrality of the State and educational guiding documents, describing how Religious Education manifests itself in these schools. The study also seeks to identify the most suitable model of Religious Education for the São Paulo context, advocating for the Science of Religion approach. The justification for this research lies in its academic and social relevance, given the need to promote an education that fosters critical thinking and plural coexistence in a diversified environment. This study's central hypothesis holds that a model of Religious Education grounded in the Science of Religion is the most compatible with the principles of State secularism, capable of promoting civic and inclusive education in the São Paulo context. The theoretical-methodological aspects encompass an extensive literature review, in addition to documentary research of School Census data and internal documents from the Secretariat of Education. The theoretical approach is based on pertinent authors. The expected results indicate that the religious diversity of students challenges Religious Education, highlighting the gap in teacher training for the area. Furthermore, legislative omission and pedagogical indefiniteness are identified in the guiding documents. This study demonstrates that the Science of Religion model is the most appropriate approach for Religious Education in São Paulo state public schools, distancing itself from proselytism and indoctrination
