Título: Imprensa brasileira e ditadura Argentina: representações do golpe de 1976 e da Copa do Mundo de 1978 em O Estado de S. Paulo e movimento
Abstract: This dissertation examines the construction of representations in the Brazilian press regarding the 1976 Argentine military coup and the 1978 World Cup, held in the same country. It seeks to interpret the news and analyses published in two newspapers— O Estado de S. Paulo, part of the corporate press in São Paulo, and Movimento, a small, counter-hegemonic left-wing publication—and how they presented their perspectives on reality concerning the two aforementioned historical moments. Working with the sources, in constant dialogue with the referenced literature, we aim to trace the trajectory of these newspapers through their history and, using textual and discursive analysis, identify their ideological biases and stances, highlighting differences between the outlets and the distinct sociopolitical contexts (1976 and 1978) in both countries. What we seek to produce is a history of the political through the press, and of the press under politics, based on representations. The methodology employed focuses, as mentioned, on textual analysis, interpreting the discourse used in news articles and reports to investigate the validity of our research questions. Between the initial project and the current stage of the research, much has changed. We chose to exclude some initial theoretical approaches to concentrate on ideologies, factual context, and the historical narrative of the events, from the perspective of Cultural History and representation studies, also including a debate on the press and power. Thus, we found that O Estado de S. Paulo remained aligned with its conservative principles in its editorials but did not refrain from publishing news about the actions of the Argentine dictatorship, particularly during June 1978. On the other hand, Movimento, while offering a critical view of the neighboring country’s situation, focused more on Brazilian issues, even featuring contributions from opposition politicians

Insubmissas: experiências e trajetórias das mulheres nas lutas operárias (1904 - 1917)

Título: Insubmissas: experiências e trajetórias das mulheres nas lutas operárias (1904 - 1917)
Abstract: This dissertation aims to give visibility to the female presence in factory work and workers' struggles, particularizing the participation in the strike movements of 1917, evidenced through the press. Since the end of the 19th century, driven by coffee expansion, the city of São Paulo has experienced intense urban growth, highlighting the presence of immigrants. The city became a center of attraction for those seeking possibilities in different functions and trades, including work in the emerging industry. The daily life of the workers was marked by long working hours, unsanitary environment, low wages and exploitation of female and child labor; in addition to the difficulties of urban living, the dearth, the high cost of housing (unsanitary tenements and peripheral neighborhoods), lack of sanitation, problems with health and education. In view of such a situation, the workers' struggles were organized, highlighting two aspects: socialism and anarchism. Their ideas and demands were defended through the workers' press, which played a crucial role in articulating the struggles of the class. It is necessary to differentiate between the feminist branches: one that focused on the struggle for women's right to vote and education, and another, the socialist/libertarian feminism, which saw female emancipation as an inseparable part of the class struggle. Thus, the participation of women becomes a central point of the analysis, they comprised the majority of the workforce in industries such as the textile industry and participated in activism. The field of struggle is prioritized through strikes, especially the General Strike of 1917, highlighting the participation of women in an event that paralyzed the city and marked the history of the Brazilian labor movement. The strike began with the weavers of Cotonifício (Cotton mill) Crespi, the mobilization expanded, supported by the workers' press and by anarchist and trade union leaders. The performance of women, their presence and resistance were fundamental to the success of the strike and to the achievements of the movement, contrary to the view that the workers' struggle would be disorganized and women would be oblivious to the movement

A germanidade na obra ensaística de Richard Wagner (1849 – 1868)

Título: A germanidade na obra ensaística de Richard Wagner (1849 – 1868)
Abstract: Our intention in this master's degree research is to analyse and problematise the germanity present in five works written by the German musician Richard Wagner: The Work of Art of the Future (Das Kunstwerk der Zukunft [1849]), Art and Revolution (Die Kunst und die Revolution [1849]), Judaism in Music (Das Judenthum in der Musik [1850]), What is Germanic? (Was ist Deutsch? [1865]) and German Art and German Politics (Deutsche Kunst und Deutsche Politik [1868]). We seek to understand the historical and cultural specificities surrounding 19th century Germany - between 1848 and 1870 - by understanding the place of their positions, which we consider to be problematic for the constitution of what we understand as " germanity", in other words, the possible harbinger of the elements that would lead, in the 20th century, to the various fascisms. Our methodology consists of examining the subject in detail based on an immanent analysis of the problem from a historical-philosophical perspective, which led us to objectify the following categories presented in the chapters: in the first chapter, we contextualize our subject based on an analysis of his writings from his revolutionary period in Zurich, understanding his place in art history and his main philosophical influences; in the second chapter, we focus on the analysis of the first two sources (Art and Revolution [1849] and The Artwork of the Future [1849]), working on the foundations of Feuerbachian philosophy present in Wagnerian discourse; finally, in the third chapter, we investigate the last three sources (Judaism in Music [1850], What is German? [1865], and German Art and German Politics [1868]), understanding the particularities of Wagnerian germanity, which is based on the composer's criticism of his contemporary world, both in the artistic and political spheres

Título: Limítrofes e perigosas: gênero, loucura e crime no Manicômio Judiciário de Franco da Rocha (1919-1929)
Abstract: The present project aims to analyze the relations of gender and social class circumscribed to the eugenicist and sanitizing context of the city of São Paulo during the so-called First Republic (1889-1930), from the perspective of alienism, criminology and other practices of social control related to mental health. The Juquery Hospital Complex, founded in 1898 and considered, over the decades, the largest psychiatric hospital in Brazil, becomes, therefore, of paramount importance for the understanding of the mentality, the mechanisms of exclusion and the social functioning of the selected period, in view of its strategic foundation as one of the greatest mechanisms of control and disciplining of the popular masses, especially of women, poor and black, in a newly republican Brazil. During the transition of regimes, there is a significant change in the perception of "madness" and criminological theories, where the new needs and imperatives of civilization and progress, as well as European influences, begin to restructure the entire perception of society by itself; In this way, the research aims not only to historicize such conceptions of madness and criminality, focusing on the current theories of degeneracy, criminology and organicism, but also to relate such mechanisms of social repression and incarceration with the sexist oppression suffered by women within an excluding and patriarchal universe, working on the construction of female identity through the asylum experience, the analysis of medical records and individual reports, exploring the construction of the so-called psychiatric-criminal body and hospitalization itself as a movement of punitive regulation of the subversive and discordant
