<title>Romeu e Valentim: como procedimentos tradutórios “ensinaram as tochas a brilhar”</title>

<description>Título: Romeu e Valentim: como procedimentos tradutórios “ensinaram as tochas a brilhar”
Abstract: The number of classic stories adaptations for children and young adults has increased significantly in recent decades. As a result, the number of translations of books for children and young adults has also increased. This paper seeks to analyze the translation of one of these adaptations of classics, William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare is considered one of the greatest influences on Western literature, which is precisely why the translation of a work based on his play was chosen for analysis. Caleb Roehrig's work, Teach the Torches to Burn, translated by Cynthia Costa with the title Romeu e Valentim, brings a different view of forbidden love: the love between two people of the same gender in the 16th century. The purpose of this work is to analyze the translation procedures employed by the Brazilian translator, as well as whether the translator was able to maintain the peculiarities of Caleb Roehrig's work while preserving the immersion of the era in which it takes place. The analysis utilizes a qualitative comparative method, supported by a bibliographic review of the translation procedures of Peter Newmark and Antoine Berman. As a result of the analysis, it was possible to conclude that Costa masterfully conveyed the impact of Roehrig's original work, keeping the text close to the readers' language while maintaining the feeling that the reader is transported to the end of the 16th century

<title>A questão migratória no Brasil (1930-1985): uma análise das políticas de eugenia</title>
      <link>https://repositorio.pucsp.br/jspui/handle/handle/46656</link>
<description>Título: A questão migratória no Brasil (1930-1985): uma análise das políticas de eugenia
Abstract: The text addresses the importance of the migratory issue in Brazil in order to comprehend its historical, social, and cultural formation. Throughout the 20th century, the country experienced migratory movements that influenced national identity and immigration policies, and the period from 1930 to 1985 is particularly emphasized due to significant migratory flows, both internal and external, that shaped the current reality. The aim is to analyze the laws and migration policies that encouraged the arrival of Europeans while discouraging immigrants from other regions, and to identify the main governmental actions, the role of racial superiority ideology, the motivations behind these policies, and their social and political implications. This research will utilize various sources, such as books, academic articles, official documents, and statistical data, to understand how these policies were formulated and their impact on Brazilian society

<title>Vozes silenciadas, águas roubadas: uma análise da violência cultural e do direito à água</title>
      <link>https://repositorio.pucsp.br/jspui/handle/handle/46654</link>
<description>Título: Vozes silenciadas, águas roubadas: uma análise da violência cultural e do direito à água
Abstract: The Dublin Declaration, which emerged in 1992, stands out for its economic prominence, allowing water to be commodified as a way of minimising waste and avoiding disadvantages. The discursive formation of water as an economic good or even a human right, presented in laws and policies, is seen as a form of domination, reflecting values that favour certain interests over others. Based on Johan Galtung's concept of cultural violence, the analysis seeks to explore how images, vocabularies and discourses that justify certain actions related to water contribute to the process of constructing meanings that legitimize other forms of violence such as physical and, mainly, structural. The way in which water is constructed and disseminated in recurring narratives, influenced by economic and political interpretations, is linked to valued social objectives. In short, the work seeks to understand the formation of the right to water, considering the implications of narrative constructions and the social messages they communicate. Water is presented as a disputed good between economic and human rights approaches, reflecting the complexity of the social and economic relations involved in managing this vital resource
