A família na entrevista inicial fonoaudiológica

Abstract

This work has the aim of investigating and discussing which aspects are underlying to the way the speech therapists deals wich the family of his patient at the initial interview. For such, it was done the survey of texts that refer to the theme family and the initial interview, as well as interviews with three speech therapists who expose their views about family concept, in the clinical context. It was also collected clinical material of initial interviews done. Of the interviews and the clinical material, there were chosen pieces in which the theme in evidence was emphasized, and the analysis of them tried to consider three main aspects of the speech therapists therapeutical process: the aim of the initial interview, the demand of the family and the position occupied by the family in the initial interview. The investigation revealed as subjacent content the way as the speech therapists eleborated their work with the families, within other aspects, problems as the absence or lack of theoretical methodological knowledge about the family and unsatisfactory formation in what concerns to its utilization in the initial interview. Besides, the study shows that the speech therapist needs to have access to more consistent therapeutic formation,with allows the development of resources that make it available for the listening, for the welcome to the demand of the family, so that it can understand the relationship of it with the language symptom of the child, as well as the possibility of thinking over its professional performance
