Abstract: | The present work shares the theoretical and methodological assumptions of discursive linguistic studies. The theoretical apparatus that underpins this dissertation consists of the assumptions of Journalism (ABRAMO, 2003; BUCCI, 2018; CHAPARRO, 2017 and 2018; FERRARI, 2018; HEZROM AND MOREIRA, 2018; NEVES, 2020; WARDLE AND DERAKHSHAN, 2017a and 2017b), French Discourse Analysis (CHARAUDEAU, 2013, 2015 and 2016; MAINGUENEAU, 1997, 2004, 2006 and 2008; ORLANDI, 2015) and Semiotics (SANTAELLA, 2018 and 2020), in addition to related areas, such as History (KARNAL, 2016), Politics and Economics (HOLLYER, ROSENDORFF AND VREELAND, 2018 and 2019), Philosophy (ARENDT, 2014) and Pedagogy (FERREIRO, 2005). Such theoretical framework is systematized and developed in order to achieve, in the first place, the general objective of this dissertation – to analyze fake news, published on Facebook, whose theme is linked to politics –, and, in second place, the specific objectives – I. Check the linguistic-discursive construction of fake news, more specifically those dealing with politics; II. Identify how fake news presents itself as a threat to democracy. Such a proposition proves to be relevant and of first magnitude, since the discussions on fake news and politics have been the target of academic and social interest. After analyzing five fake news, the results revealed that the linguistic constructiondiscourse of these fake news, whose theme was about politics, was anchored in the Manichaean stereotype of good versus evil, and, to that extent, it proved to be a dispute discursive, through its discursive formations, which were more aligned with the ideals of the right or the ideals of the left. In the same direction, we note that, on the national scene, fake news presented itself as a clear threat to democracy – conceived as the will of the majority, to the detriment of the minority –, whether when paying attention to people or institutions, in a real, symbolic way or imaginary |
